Aims of Huntly Area Cancer Support
The stated aim of the Group is to provide both practical and emotional support to those whose lives have been affected by cancer, whether as a patient, carer, relative, friend, or as having been bereaved by cancer. Although we recognise that illness is always a difficult thing to deal with and some people do need to unload themselves emotionally, we try not to be a "doom and gloom" organisation.
We try and often succeed, we believe, in helping others with a smile, and sometimes even with a bit of laughter. We are simply ordinary folk from many walks of life who have had experience of cancer and, with that common bond, have some understanding of the worries, emotions and complications that a diagnosis of cancer is likely to bring. We can perhaps help each other with those concerns, those who are affected now, and hope that they in due course and in their turn may be able to support others with understanding, empathy and a helping hand and hopefully do it with optimism and a wee smile.
